His Majesty visits the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi today as part his state visit to the sisterly United Arab Emirates.
He was accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE , Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Presidential Court of the United Arab Emirates and Head of the Mission of Honour.
Dr Yousef Al-Obaidly, Director of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre.led the welcome for His Majesty upon his arrival.
His Majesty toured the halls and corridors of the mosque, learning of the cultural role of the mosque in promoting a culture of coexistence and openness inspired by the values of its founder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
His Majesty expressed his admiration for the Grand Mosque's aesthetics and the Islamic arts, architecture and engineering designs that it features, as well as the distinguished collections it contains.
He praised the role of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre in introducing tolerant Islamic culture and building bridges to further rapprochement between different world cultures.
At the end of his tour, His Majesty signed the register of VIP visitors.
During his visit to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, His Majesty the Sultan was accompanied by His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs; His Highness Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said; Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court; General Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nomani, Minister of the Royal Office; Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior; Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Dr Hamad bin Said Al Aufi, Head of the Private Office; Abdussalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority; Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and Sayyid Dr Ahmed bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Ambassador of Oman to the UAE.
