His Majesty the Sultan arrives in Egypt
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik arrived today in the Arab Republic of Egypt on a two-day official visit.
When His Majesty’s plane touched down at Cairo International Airport, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi of Egypt headed the welcoming party.
Also present in the welcoming party were Abdullah Al Rahbi, Oman's Ambassador to Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League as well as staff members of the Omani Embassy.
His Majesty and the Egyptian President proceeded to the Hall of Ceremonies, passing between two rows of honour guards from the Egyptian Republican Guard.
After a short rest, His Majesty, accompanied by the Egyptian President and escorted by motorcycles from the Egyptian Republican Guard, travelled to the Al Ittihadiya Palace, where an official reception ceremony was conducted in honour of His Majesty.
As the two leaders’ motorcade arrived, trumpets were sounded and cavalry lined up, while the artillery fired a 21-gun salute to His Majesty .
The Egyptian President then accompanied His Majesty to the dais of honour, where the Omani National Anthem and the Egyptian Republican Anthem were played. His Majesty, accompanied by the Egyptian President then inspected the Guard of Honour, which saluted His Majesty.
His Majesty then shook hands with Egyptian dignitaries who included General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production; Sameh Shoukry, Foreign Minister; Major General Abbas Kamel, Head of General Intelligence; Dr Hala El Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development; Dr Mohamed Moait, Minister of Finance; Dr Assem Al Jazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities (Head of the Mission of Honour); Eng. Ahmed Samir, Minister of Trade and Industry; Khalid Rady, Egypt's Ambassador to Oman and Ahmed Fahmy, the President's Spokesman.
President El-Sisi shook hands with members of the official delegation accompanying His Majesty.
