His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said received David Lammy, the United Kingdom's Secretary of State for Foreign Commonwealth and Development Affairs, at Al Baraka Palace.

They discussed both the historical and strategic relations between the two friendly countries, and the British–Omani partnership supporting economic diversification in the Sultanate of Oman.

The Rt Hon. David Lammy MP praised His Majesty's modern developmental policies and their tangible impact across the country. Mr Lammy said the British government is keen to encourage and deepen cooperation and investment in various fields.

His Majesty expressed his appreciation for the level of cooperation and coordination between the two Governments. He welcomed the partnership’s progress and future prospects.

They discussed a number of regional and international issues. The UK Foreign Secretary showed great interest in initiatives to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and achieve peace and stability. He also noted the ongoing efforts, mediated by Oman, in the US-Iran talks to reach a new agreement on Iran’s nuclear programme for peaceful purposes.

The meeting was attended by Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi.

Accompanying the Rt Hon. David Lammy MP were Sir Oliver Robbins, Permanent Under-Secretary at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and Dr Liane Saunders, the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman.
