His Majesty receives Swiss President

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received Alain Berset, President of the Swiss Confederation, at the start of his official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

A reception ceremony was held for President Berset. Upon the arrival of the motorcade at Al Alam Palace, the band of the Omani Royal Guard played and trumpets were sounded.

Then His Majesty escorted his guest to the podium of honour, where the Swiss National Anthem was played, while artillery fired a twenty-one gun salute to President Berset.

After that, His Majesty the Sultan shook hands with the official delegation accompanying President Berset, welcoming them and wishing them a pleasant stay.

President Berset in turn shook hands with distinguished Omanis including members of the Royal Family, the Presidents of the State and Shura Councils, Ministers, and the Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces

His Majesty the Sultan and his guest then went to the Majlis to take coffee.
