His Majesty receives Russian Foreign Minister

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik this morning received Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation.

During the meeting, Mr Lavrov conveyed the greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his good wishes to His Majesty and the Omani people. The Minister briefed His Majesty on the Russian view of the current crisis with the Republic of Ukraine.

His Majesty expressed his appreciation for the visit of the Russian Foreign Minister sending his greetings and best wishes to President Putin as well as his best wishes to him for the relations between the two friendly countries.

On the ongoing conflict between the Russia and Ukraine, His Majesty stressed the need to adhere to the rules of international law and to intensify efforts to reach political and diplomatic solutions through dialogue in order to prevent bloodshed. He stressed the need to take into account all humanitarian aspects in a way that preserves the independence, sovereignty and peaceful coexistence of countries and peoples.

The meeting was attended by Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister, Ilya Morgunov, Russian Ambassador to Oman and the delegation accompanying the visiting minister.
