His Majesty and Swiss President hold official discussions
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and Alain Berset, President of the Swiss Confederation, held an official discussion at Al Alam Palace.
His Majesty the Sultan welcomed President Berset to the Sultanate of Oman, wishing him and his accompanying delegation a pleasant stay.
The Swiss President expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Majesty for the warm reception and welcome accorded to him and his accompanying delegation.
The two leaders discussed paths of constructive cooperation between Oman and Switzerland and ways to develop them in various sectors for the of their friendly peoples. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments and reviewed matters of mutual interest.
The official talks session was attended from Oman by His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers; His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Special Representative of His Majesty the Sultan; Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of the Royal Court; General Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nomani, Minister of the Royal Office; Sayyid Hamood bin Faisal bin Said Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior; Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi, Foreign Minister; Sultan bin Salim bin Said Al Habsi, Finance Minister; Dr Hamad bin Saeed al Awfi, Head of the Private Office. Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim bin Said Al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation; Dr Hilal bin Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health (Head of the Mission of Honour), and Mahmoud bin Hamad Alhasani, Oman's Ambassador to the Switzerland.
On the Swiss side, the discussions were attended by Thomas Oertel, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to the Sultanate of Oman, Ambassador Maya Tissafi, Under-Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Middle East and North Africa Affairs Department; Ambassador Nora Kronig-Romero, Head of the International Affairs Department and Deputy Director of the Federal Office of Public Health; Ambassador Wolfgang Amadeus Brülhart, the Swiss Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs, and a number of officials of the Swiss Confederation.
His Majesty and the Swiss President then held a closed session of private discussions.
