Gulf and Caribbean Foreign Ministers sign cooperation memorandum

The Sultanate of Oman yesterday chaired a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Foreign Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS). The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

At the meeting, the two groups signed a memorandum of cooperation and adopted a joint action plan between the GCC and the ACS, which identifies key goals and sets out mechanisms for political dialogue, the facilitation of trade and the promotion of investment and tourism cooperation.

The GCC and ACS Foreign Ministers agreed on their common desire to activate cooperation between the two groups, especially in the economic, commercial and tourism fields. They also agreed to exchange expertise and to stimulate investment in various sectors including food security, energy security, the environment.

The Sultanate was represented by Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Oman's Foreign Minister and Chairman of the current session of the Gulf Ministerial Council, with the participation of Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.
