German President leaves Oman

Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, and his wife Elke Büdenbender left the Sultanate of Oman this morning after a three-day official visit.

During his visit, President Steinmeier met with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi was among the dignitaries who saw off the President and his accompanying delegation on their departure from the Royal airport.

Also present at the farewell were Engineer Said bin Hamood bin Said Al Mawali, Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (Head of the Honour Mission), Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim bin Said Al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (Minister accompanying the guest's spouse); Maitha Saif Almahrouqi, Oman's Ambassador to Germany and Ambassador Dirk Lölke, Germany's Ambassador to Oman.

The guest was accompanied by an official delegation that included Dr Tobias Lindner, Minister of State at the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Dirk Lölke, Germany's Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman and Wolfgang Silbermann, Director General of Foreign Affairs in the Office of the Federal President, as well as a number of German officials.
