German President arrives in Oman
Dr Frank Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, and his wife, Elke Büdenbender, arrived in Muscat this evening on an official three-day visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi led the welcome delegation for the German President and his wife.
Also in the welcoming party were Eng. Said bin Hamood bin Said Al Mawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (Head of the Mission of Honour); Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim bin Said Al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation (Minister accompanying Elke Büdenbender); Maitha Saif Almahrouqi, Oman's Ambassador to Germany and Dirk Lölke, Germany's Ambassador to Oman along with members of the German Embassy's staff in Muscat.
The German President is accompanied by an official delegation that includes Dr Tobias Lindner, Minister of State at the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Dirk Lölke, Germany's Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman and Wolfgang Silbermann, Director General of Foreign Affairs in the Office of the Federal President and a number of German officials.
During the visit Oman and Germany will hold discussions to advance mutual interests and aspirations. There will also be consultations on current regional issues.
