GCC Central Bank Governors meet in Muscat
The GCC Committee for Central Bank Governors held a meeting in Muscat today under the chairmanship of His Highness Sayyid Taimur bin Asa’ad Al Said, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO).
The meeting discussed the supervision and control of the banking and payment systems as well as financial sector technologies in the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC). The Committee also discussed developments in the framework to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism, as well as cybersecurity in the banking sector.
The Committee was also briefed on the latest developments in the signing and ratification of the agreement linking payment systems between the GCC countries. It was also briefed on the joint dialogue between the Central Banks of the GCC countries and the governors of European Central Banks, the joint dialogue with the Chinese side and the latest monetary and financial developments in the GCC countries.
