Foreign Minister receives UN Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism
Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi received the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism, Vladimir Voronkov, at the headquarters of the Sultanate of Oman’s permanent delegation to the United Nations in New York.
During the meeting, Sayyid Badr said Oman’s policy to combat terrorism was based on peaceful coexistence between nations, peoples and different religions, good neighbourliness and non-interference in internal affairs.
He added the Sultanate is working in accordance with its strategy to combat terrorism with all regional and international partners to take measures to protect society from extremism and terrorism.
Mr Voronkov, praised the efforts made by the Sultanate of Oman at the local and international levels, which he said have achieved tangible results.He also praised the principles on which the Suktanate's national strategy to combat terrorism is based.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Dr Mohammed bin Awad Alhassan, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations in New York;Ambassador Sheikh Humaid Almaani, Head of the Foreign Ministry's Global Affairs Department, and a number of officials from both sides.
