Foreign Minister holds talks with Palestinian Foreign Minister

Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi held talks today with Riyadh Al Maliki, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine.

During the meeting, at the headquarters of the Palestinian Foreign Ministry in Ramallah, the situation in Palestine and regional and international developments were discussed.

The meeting also reviewed ways of advancing Arab and international efforts to revive the peace process, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and the vision of the international community based on the principle of a two-state solution.

The meeting also discussed what the international community should do to stop settlements and Israeli plans to annex parts of the Palestinian territories.

The Ministers agreed on the need to preserve the historical, legal and religious status of the occupied city of Jerusalem and to support efforts aimed at obtaining full membership in the United Nations for the State of Palestine.

Based on the aim of the two countries to enhance bilateral cooperation, Sayyid Badr and Riyadh Al Maliki signed an agreement between the governments of Oman and Palestine to establish a committee for consultation and bilateral cooperation.

On the Omani side, the signing ceremony was attended by Khalid Almuslahi, Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs of the Sultanate's Foreign Ministry; Sheikh Faisal bin Omar bin Saeed Almarhoon, Head of the Foreign Ministry's Arab Department; Salem bin Habib Alomairi, Chargé d’Affairs of Oman's Embassy in Ramallah and the delegation accompanying the Minister.
