Foreign Minister holds talks with Iraqi counterpart
Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi held discussions in Muscat today with Dr Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Republic of Iraq.
During the meeting, they reaffirmed the long standing relations and fraternal ties between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Iraq. The Ministers reviewed prospects for bilateral cooperation in various fields and discussed ways to enhance and develop ties in the political, economic, commercial and cultural spheres, aiming to serve the interests of both countries and their brotherly peoples.
The discussions also addressed current regional and international issues of common concern, with a focus on the brutal Israeli occupation forces' aggression against Gaza and the resulting escalation in the region. They reaffirmed their continued support for all efforts aimed at reinforcing peaceful approaches and strengthening the foundations of security and stability in the region and the world, based on international law, respect for international legitimacy and the principles of justice and fairness.
The meeting was attended from Oman by Khalid Al Muslahi, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Ambassador Sheikh Faisal Almarhoon, Head of the Foreign Ministry's Arab Affairs Department; and various Foreign Ministry officials. The meeting was attended from Iraq by Qais Al Amri, Iraq's Ambassador to Oman; and the delegation accompanying the Iraqi Foreign Minister.
