Published On: 5 November 2023

Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi received a phone call from Dr Hossein Amir Abdollahian, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Ministers exchanged views on the ongoing Israeli military aggression on the Gaza Strip, which has led to more civilian casualties and the destruction of public facilities, hospitals and schools.

They also discussed the regional and international political efforts to achieve a humanitarian truce. They agreed this should focus on allowing relief operations to treat the wounded, deliver essential supplies to the people of Gaza and repair vital facilities.

They further agreed on the importance of prioritising diplomatic and political action. They emphasised the need to adhere to international law by restoring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people with an end to the occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

They agreed that there is no benefit in expanding the war being waged by the Israeli occupation forces, who must be held legally accountable for their actions.
