First Omani US economic forum held in Washington

The first Omani-American Economic Forum in Washington D.C. discussed enhancing trade and investment between the two countries.

Organised by the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the United States of America in cooperation with the American Chamber of Commerce, it was held on the sidelines of the second Omani-American Strategic Dialogue.

Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs, delivered a speech in which he spoke of the importance of the historical and strategic relations between Oman and the United States.

He also spoke of the efforts made to enhance trade and investment between the two countries to achieve the goals of the “Oman 2040” vision.

Ana Escrogima, Ambassador of the United States of America to the Sultanate of Oman, said that all the efforts aimed at strengthening cooperation and economic relations between the two countries were appreciated.

The forum included two discussion sessions on the themes of trade and investment and renewable energy. During these discussions both Omani and US specialists spoke about the opportunities offered by Oman in these two sectors. They also talked about how to maximise the benefit from the free trade agreement between the Oman and the United States.

The forum was attended by a number of US government officials, representatives of US companies, and figures from the private sector.
