United Kingdom launches travel authorisation system for Omanis

Published On: 2 February 2024

The United Kingdom has launched an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system for Omani citizens. It will replace the Electronic Visa Waiver (EVW) system from February 22, 2024.

The ETA will allow multiple entries to the UK over a period of two years or until the expiration of the visitor's passport, whichever comes first. The Oman Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the system will open new horizons for commercial, educational and tourism exchange.

Omani citizens can download the UK ETA app on their phones through the Android or Apple Store or visit the following link: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta

These are the steps to submit an ETA application:

1. Confirm identity.

2. Answer a number of questions related to travel.

3. Pay the permit fee of 10 British pounds (£10).

To obtain the permit applicants must have:

1. A valid passport.

2. An email address and access to it.

3. Bank card.
