By Royal Order, Oman launches airbridge to Turkish and Syrian earthquake zone
Following the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Sultanate of Oman today began operating an airbridge to transport relief aid and medical supplies to earthquake-hit areas in Syria and Turkey.
The operation to relieve human suffering among the brotherly Syrian and Turkish people, bears witness to Oman’s commitment to performing its humanitarian duty.
The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority is also sending a search and rescue team to participate in global operations in southern Turkey. The team left today onboard a Royal Air Force of Oman aircraft.
As soon as the Turkish authorities declared a state of emergency following the earthquake, Oman’s Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority began working in close solidarity with the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG). The Group has declared a full mobilisation of its member teams to participate in rescue operations in the earthquake-hit areas.
