British Omani Society holds annual reception
The British Omani Society held its annual reception in London today. Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Undersecretary for Political Affairs of Oman's Foreign Ministry was the guest of honour from the Sultanate and Lord Gerry Grimstone was guest of honour from the UK.
Speaking at the event, Sheikh Khalifa praised the distinguished and long-standing relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom and spoke of Oman’s interest in strengthening its economic relations with the UK.
He also thanked the members of the Society for their efforts to further relations between the two countries.
Lord Grimstone spoke of the importance that the UK attaches to its relationship with Oman and its appreciation for the role the Sultanate plays in the region.
The lunch was attended by Badr Mohammed Badr Al Mantheri, Oman’s ambassador to the United Kingdom; Richard Stanford, Chairman of the British Omani Society, members of the Society and diplomats from the Omani Embassy.
The British Omani Society (BOS), formerly The Anglo-Omani Society, is a charitable organisation working with the objective of enhancing and preserving the longstanding friendship between Britain and Oman. The Society was formed in January 1976 with His late Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said as the Society's founding Patron. The current patron is His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said.
