Bilateral relations
The Sultanate of Oman and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan enjoy deeply-rooted historical relations.
Official diplomatic relations were established in 1975 with the opening of the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries are characterised by fraternal cooperation in many areas including the political, economic, commercial, cultural, military and security fields.
Mission objectives
The Embassy seeks to enhance relations between the two brotherly countries by working to seize the bilateral opportunities available in the economic and commercial fields and all other sectors.
The Embassy looks to Oman Vision 2040 to be a guiding model for all its activities.
Its mission includes:
- Working to promote and develop cultural exchanges
- Seeking to sign bilateral memoranda of understanding and agreements to serve the interests of the two brotherly countries in various fields
- Encouraging the exchange of visits between all sectors to further the common interests of both countries
- Enhancing bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries to achieve security, stability and peace in the region and the world
- Enhancing ties between the two countries at the regional and international levels and enhancing understanding on international issues
Commercial services
- Signing agreements and memoranda of understanding in the economic, investment and tourism sectors
- Creating investment and commercial cooperation opportunities in various sectors by providing appropriate facilities
- Promoting opportunities for meetings between decision-makers in the various economic and commercial sectors to serve the interests of the two brotherly countries
Cultural and academic cooperation
Oman and Jordan cooperate in the academic and student exchange fields, with Omani students studying in various Jordanian universities.
The two brotherly countries work together on cultural events such as fairs, festivals and other activities, with the Embassy seeking to enhance this cooperation at various levels.
