Foreign Ministers of Oman and Iran hold joint press conference
Oman's Foreign Minister, Sayyid Albusaidi and Iran's Foreign Minister, Dr Hossein Amir Abdollahian, held a joint press conference in Tehran this evening during the official visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Sayyid Badr said that the visit of His Majesty to Iran constitutes an extension of the deep-rooted relations between the two countries and will usher in a new era of concerted action to achieve fruitful bilateral cooperation.
He said the two countries will join hands in activating bilateral agreements that they have signed, with the prime objective of enhancing cooperation in various fields including oil, gas, renewable energy, tourism, agriculture, industry, seafaring and establishing direct links between Omani and Iranian ports.
He stressed the two countries’ keenness and resolve to find peaceful solutions to issues and developments in the region.
Dr Abdollahian said that the meeting between His Majesty and the Iranian President had focused on political, economic, commercial and cultural issues.
He said the meeting laid emphasis on consolidating cooperation in maritime transport, activating shipping lines between the two countries and reviewing agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the two sides.
The Iranian minister commended Oman's foreign policy and its positions on regional and international issues. He also commended the positive role that Oman plays in promoting regional security and stability.
