Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi receives phone call from US Secretary of State
His Excellency Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister, received a phone call this evening from US Secretary of State, Dr Antony Blinken during which they discussed bilateral relations, reaffirming cooperation in various fields.
They exchanged views on the importance of a sustainable ceasefire in the occupied Palestinian territories and of mobilising support for reconstruction in Gaza, as well as for efforts to achieve a lasting peace in the Middle East.
The Foreign Minister expressed Oman’s appreciation for US efforts to support a ceasefire, stressing the Sultanate’s firm position on the centrality of the Palestinian issue for the stability of the region and the need to assist the Palestinian people in achieving their legitimate aspirations to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the basis of the two state solution and the relevant international resolutions.
On the Yemeni crisis, Dr Blinken expressed the United States' appreciation for the Sultanate's role in support of the US envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking and the UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths. Both sides stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to reach an end to the war and embark on peaceful solutions between the parties through negotiations and direct dialogue. They also emphasised the importance and priority of securing entry of humanitarian supplies for the Yemeni people and reaffirmed the overall aim of achieving the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security, stability, national unity and sovereignty of their territories.
