Talks with Russian President focus on strengthening ties
During his meeting with President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, expressed his gratitude for the kind invitation to visit the country and for the warm welcome and generous hospitality.
His Majesty said that his talks with the Russian President focused on building strong and friendly relations between the two countries who are currently marking 40 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations and are now working to make these relations distinctive and beneficial in a way that serves the interests of both friendly peoples.
His Majesty praised his meeting with a group of businesspeople from the Russian Federation, noting their interest in developing the relationship in the fields of energy, agriculture and trade.
He noted that many of them have already begun exchanging visits and opening commercial offices. His Majesty expressed Oman's aspiration to increase its investments in the Russian Federation, adding that the Oman Investment Authority has initiated communication with the relevant Russian bodies.
At the conclusion of his remarks, His Majesty also expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Russian officials who visited the Sultanate of Oman in recent times, expressing his hope that Omani officials will continue to visit Moscow.

President Putin noted that His Majesty had made several visits to Russia in the past, including in 1985 when he signed the agreement establishing diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries.
He added that the two friendly countries share a strong history and a solid record of ongoing engagement, highlighting that a number of agreements have been developed which will provide further momentum to strengthen bilateral relations.
President Putin also noted that there is much work to be done to enhance trade relations between the two countries, particularly in the areas of mutual investment, transit, transport and agriculture, especially as Russia exports agricultural products and foodstuffs to Oman.
He highlighted the interest of Russian companies in developing cooperation with Oman in the field of energy, noting that practical matters were discussed during the day’s negotiations.
President Putin underlined the close cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of both countries, adding that Russia is preparing to host the first Russian-Arab Summit, which has received support from friends across the Arab world.
