Minister heads Oman's delegation to extraordinary Islamic meeting
Oman's Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, led the Sultanate's delegation at an extraordinary meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The meeting of Foreign Ministers of OIC member states was chaired by Cameroon’s Foreign Minister, Lejeune Mbella Mbella, who is presiding over the current session of the Organisation’s Ministerial Council.
The meeting discussed developments regarding the ongoing Israeli occupation forces' aggression against the occupied Palestinian territories.
In his speech, Sayyid Badr the Foreign reaffirmed Oman’s firm stance in support of implementing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, ensuring a full Israeli withdrawal, facilitating the return of displaced Palestinians, and guaranteeing the delivery of humanitarian aid to all areas of Gaza. He warned against any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians or violate their rights.
The Minister also reiterated Oman's support for the efforts of OIC member states in confronting Israeli aggression He stressed the need to establish an effective international mechanism to halt violations, protect civilians, lift the blockade on Gaza and hold Israeli officials accountable for their crimes.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Sheikh Ahmed Almaskari, Head of the Ministry's department for the GCC and Region, Salem Mohammed Albusaidi, Consul General of Oman in Jeddah and Deputy Permanent Representative to the OIC, along with other officials from the Foreign Ministry.
