SalamAir to add 10 aircraft to fleet
SalamAir, Oman's low-cost carrier, announced plans to add new aircraft to its current fleet over the next three years to meet rising travel demand.
The carrier submitted an official request to lease 10 Airbus A320 aircraft from several leasing companies. This move seeks to achieve its defined growth targets for the next five years.
Adrian Hamilton-Manns, the CEO of SalamAir, confirmed that the company's return to a low fare strategy proved highly successful. The fleet reached full seat occupancy and demand now exceeding current capacity.
Mr Hamilton-Manns said that expanding the company's operational activities over the next five years requires additional aircraft. This will enable the company to increase domestic and regional flights and add new destinations.
He added that these measures will boost tourism in the Sultanate of Oman, and secure faster growth in this sector.
He also explained that in 2024 Salam Air transported more than 3.2 million passengers. This was a 20 per cent increase compared with 2023. The previous year saw the company refocus on a low fare model.
He confirmed that Salam Air will receive two new A321 aircraft this year. This will bring the fleet to 15 aircraft. With an additional 10 aircraft, the fleet will reach 25 A320 aircraft by 2028.
