Indian Ocean Conference concludes with dialogue session
The 8th Indian Ocean Conference concluded with a joint panel discussion featuring Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi; Dr Ram Madhav, President of the India Foundation, and Shri Jaideep Mazumdar, Secretary for eastern affairs at India's Ministry of External Affairs.
The session saw active engagement from participants, with the panel addressing a range of questions from the audience regarding the future of regional relations, the role of international cooperation in enhancing maritime security and trade, and mechanisms for tackling environmental and economic challenges in the Indian Ocean.
At the close of the session, speakers and participants expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the Sultanate of Oman for its warm hospitality and the excellent organisation of the Conference.
They praised the event for fostering a supportive environment for constructive dialogue and collaboration. They also agreed on the importance of continuing such gatherings to strengthen relations and strategic partnerships among Indian Ocean littoral states.
In his closing remarks, Oman's Foreign Minister highlighted that the Conference provided a significant opportunity to enhance regional and international cooperation in maritime security, trade, and sustainable development.
He added that he hoped discussions at the Conference would serve as a starting point for further constructive partnerships and initiatives that benefit the countries and peoples of the region.
