Oman and Singapore celebrate 40 years of diplomatic relations
The Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Muscat organised a celebration to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Singapore.
The event was attended by Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi and Major General Idris bin Abdulrahman Al Kindi, Secretary General of the National Security Council, as well as K Shanmugam, Singapore’s Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law, and Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman, Singapore’s Second Minister for Foreign Affairs.
The celebration included official speeches reflecting Oman and Singapore's mutual appreciation for the strong relations between the two countries. It also included the unveiling of a special joint postage stamp, symbolising the depth of these ties.
During the event, two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed. The first was between the Oman Broadband Company and Singapore’s ST Engineering Urban Solutions Ltd (STEURS), aimed at enhancing cooperation in developing smart infrastructure and technological innovations in both countries.
The second MoU was between Oman Deep Ocean LLC and Innova Life Pte Ltd, focusing on the development and establishment of distribution management systems for Oman Deep Ocean products from Oman to global markets.
The event was attended by Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs, alongside officials from both Oman and Singapore and diplomats accredited to Oman from friendly and neighbouring countries.
The diplomatic relations between Oman and Singapore, established in 1985, have resulted in fruitful cooperation in many fields, including politics, the economy and cultural affairs. These relations have helped foster shared interests and reflect the depth of ties between the two nations.
