Oman and Belarus sign two agreements
The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Belarus signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) at Al Bustan Palace Hotel.
The agreements, on industrial cooperation and standards, conformity assessment, and accreditation, were signed during the visit of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to Oman.
The MoUs were signed between Oman’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, the Belarusian Ministry of Industry, and the State Committee for Standardisation of Belarus.
The agreements seek to facilitate knowledge and technology exchange, develop knowledge based industries, support joint investments in industrial projects, and ease the movement of industrial goods between the two countries.
They also aim to increase knowledge sharing on standardisation, conformity assessment, and accreditation activities, as well as mutual information exchange on national standards and technical regulations that could significantly impact trade between the two nations.
The MoUs were signed on behalf of Oman by Qais Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, and on behalf of Belarus by Maxim Ryzhenkov, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Alexander Yefimov, Minister of Industry.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr Saleh Al Masan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry, Dr Abdullah Al Harthy, Honorary Consul of Belarus in Oman, Hamood Al Towaiya, Oman’s Ambassador to Russia and non-resident Ambassador to Belarus, Sergei Terentiev, Belarusian non-resident Ambassador to Oman, and several officials from both Oman and Belarus.
