Joint Statement from Oman and Belarus

Joint Statement on the occasion of the Official Visit of His Excellency President Alexander Lukashenko of the Republic of Belarus:

“At the gracious invitation of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, His Excellency President Alexander Lukashenko of the Republic of Belarus paid an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman, which lasted several days.

“His Majesty held talks with His Excellency the President on relations between the two countries and ways to enhance cooperation.

“Both leaders expressed their determination to work together towards shared goals and to conduct relations based on mutual respect and understanding. They celebrated the strengthening of bilateral relations and underlined the value of enhancing their partnership in the economic, political, and cultural fields. The sectors identified for broader partnership included: clean energy, tourism, education, healthcare, technology, and transport and logistics.

“Both sides welcomed bilateral efforts to intensify their cooperation in the field of industry, including joint projects on machinery assembly in Oman.

“The leaders urged cooperation in agriculture and food security. They welcomed successful negotiations at the Oman AgroFood 2024 exhibition and expressed support for joint projects on infant formula and dairy products.

“The two countries agreed to establish a Belarus Oman committee for cooperation and in support of joint initiatives, as well as exploring new opportunities of mutual benefits.

“Belarus welcomed the introduction of a visa waiver for Belarussian citizens to visit Oman for up to 14 days. They discussed the possibility of direct flights between Belarus and Oman and a mutual visa exemption agreement.

“President Aleksandr Lukashenko and His Majesty the Sultan exchanged views on regional and international matters, reiterating their respect for international law and the United Nations Charter, and highlighting the importance of cooperating within the framework of international organisations to deliver peace and security.

“The two delegations met to discuss their countries’ development strategies and outline the ways in which they can boost bilateral trade and investment and cooperate more closely on global issues such as food security.

“The President of the Republic of Belarus expressed gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality, and invited His Majesty the Sultan to visit Belarus.”
