Joint Statement between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Türkiye
“At the invitation of His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sultan of Oman, undertook a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye on November 28-29, 2024.
This visit marked a historic first at the leadership level, underscoring the significance of the longstanding and close ties between the two nations.
“During their meetings, the two leaders reaffirmed the depth of the fraternal relations between their countries and their mutual commitment to strengthening cooperation in areas of shared interest. They discussed prospects for enhancing bilateral relations, particularly in the political, economic, military and defence sectors, as well as in science and technology, education, culture, energy and tourism.
“The leaders emphasised the importance of bolstering economic relations through increasing trade volume and encouraging joint investments. They also expressed their anticipation for the success of the 12th session of the Joint Economic Committee, scheduled to be held in Muscat in December 2024.
“The visit witnessed the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding that establish a legal framework for bilateral relations and foster cooperation across diverse fields.
“The two leaders exchanged views on various regional and international developments and underscored the importance of coordinating positions to support security and stability in the region. They reiterated their commitment to joint efforts aimed at promoting peace and addressing regional and global challenges.
“His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik extended an invitation to His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to visit the Sultanate of Oman, which His Excellency warmly welcomed and accepted, expressing his eagerness to continue dialogue and enhance cooperation between the two countries.
“At the conclusion of the visit, His Majesty the Sultan expressed his profound gratitude to His Excellency President Erdoğan and the Turkish people for the warm reception and generous hospitality extended to him and his accompanying delegation during their stay in Turkey.
