His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander, today presided over a military parade staged at Al Sumoud Camp of the Sultan’s Special Force on the occasion of the 54th National Day.

Symbolic units representing the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO), the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO), the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO), the Sultan’s Special Force (SSF) and the Royal Oman Police (ROP), in addition to the ground and mounted military music bands, participated in the parade.

Upon His Majesty’s arrival at the parade ground, he was received by His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs; General Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nomani, Minister of the Royal Office; Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and Major General Musallam bin Mohammed Jaaboub, Commander of the Sultan's Special Force (SSF).

The Sultan of Oman’s Artillery fired a 21-gun salute to His Majesty.

When His Majesty ascended to the Royal Dais, columns of the parade performed the military salute. The joint corps of military bands played the Royal Anthem, while the Sultan of Oman’s Artillery fired a 21-gun salute to His Majesty.

The ceremonial guard columns then conducted their military parade, accompanied by music performed by the joint military band, paying tribute to His Majesty, the Supreme Commander.

This was followed by a mounted musical display by the mounted bands of the Royal Guard of Oman and the Royal Cavalry, as they passed in front of the Royal dais and saluted His Majesty.

The parade columns chanted three times “Long live His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander.”

The parade columns then performed the military anthem “Long Live Oman” and chanted their loyalty and allegiance declaration: “Faith in God, loyalty to the Sultan, and defence of the nation.” They then chanted three times: “Long live His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander.”

The joint military band then played the Royal Anthem and the participating parade columns rendered the military salute to His Majesty, marking the conclusion of the military parade.

His Majesty then departed the parade ground under the grace and protection of the Almighty.

Accompanying His Majesty at the event were members of the Royal Family, Al Busaidi dignitaries, Ministers, advisers, Commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces and other military and security services, Ambassadors of friendly and brotherly nations accredited to Oman, members of the State Council, members of the Shura Council, Undersecretaries, advisers, senior military and security officers, retirees, and a gathering of citizens.
