The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a recurring process organised by the United Nations Human Rights Council held every four to five years to review the human rights record of each member state.

Established in 2006, the UPR began sessions in 2008. It aims to promote international dialogue and provides a platform for countries to present the steps they have taken to fulfil their human rights commitments, ultimately seeking to improve conditions across all UN member states.
