Oman and Spain explore business opportunities
The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) represented the Sultanate at the Omani-Spanish Business Forum hosted by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce (SCC) in Madrid.
Several Spanish companies from various economic sectors took part.
The Omani delegation was led by OCCI board member Hussein Abdul Hussein.
Oman's Ambassador to Spain, Omar Said Omar Alkathiri, said his diplomatic efforts were focused on enhancing relations between Oman and Spain.
He has held several meetings with the SCC and Spanish government officials to explore ways to strengthen commercial ties.
These efforts reflect the shared objectives of advancing commercial and investment opportunities in the coming years.
Jaime Montalvo, International Director of the SCC, highlighted the importance of the forum in presenting opportunities to enhance relations between the two countries through trade and investment exchange.
He hoped the Forum would achieve its goals through effective communication and the establishment of business partnerships between entrepreneurs from both nations.
Hussein Abdul Hussein said the visit aimed to support the private sector, expand economic diversification, explore business opportunities in the Spanish market and connect Omani companies with their Spanish counterparts.
He said the OCCI's participation in the forum involved a specialised delegation in food security, healthcare and industry along with representatives from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion.
The delegation sought to promote investment opportunities in Oman and to visit Spanish companies in Madrid and Barcelona to explore cooperation possibilities, establish partnerships and exchange expertise between private sector institutions in both countries.
Hussein Abdul Hussein said he hopes that the forum and its accompanying meetings between Omani and Spanish traders will open new avenues for increasing trade exchange in various economic sectors.
Mohammed Al Lawati from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion delivered a presentation on the investment environment in Oman and highlighted key opportunities.
The Spanish delegation explained efforts by government institutions to strengthen bilateral economic relations and economic diplomacy as well as Spain's commercial activities in the Middle East.
Representatives from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Commerce delivered this presentation while the SCC provided an overview of business opportunities in Spain and the functioning of the country's chambers of commerce.
During the forum, Omani companies in the delegation were introduced along with the business opportunities they aim to explore in the Spanish market.
On the sidelines of the event, several bilateral meetings were held between Spanish companies and members of the Omani delegation to discuss key investment opportunities available in the Omani and Spanish private sectors.
