Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi took part in a joint ministerial meeting between the Foreign Ministers of the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Antony Blinken, US Secretary of State. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the GCC Secretariat General in the Saudi capital, Riyadh and was also attended by Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, Secretary-General of the GCC.

The meeting discussed Gulf-American relations and cooperation in the political and economic fields.

There was also consultation and an exchange of views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. This reflects a keenness to support all efforts to reach peaceful solutions to various issues and crises, so contributing to the restoration of security and stability in the region.

The meeting focused on continuing efforts to secure an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to reach a permanent, just and peaceful solution to the Palestinian issue based on a two-state solution according to international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The meeting was attended by Sayyid Faisal bin Turki Al Said, Oman's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, along with Najib bin Hilal Albusaidi, Deputy Head of the GCC Affairs and Regional Cooperation Department, as well as officials from the Foreign Ministry.

Commenting on social media, Sayyid Badr said the talks were “important”  describing a ceasefire in Gaza and the delivery of humanitarian relief as prerequisites for deescalation.

“We must return to a path of justice for the Palestinians, and statehood on the basis of two states and UNSC resolutions,” he said.
