Oman's Belgium Embassy hosts diplomacy magazine launch

Oman's Embassy in Belgium hosted the launch of a special edition of the international magazine Diplomatic World in the capital, Brussels.

The quarterly publication aims to link the worlds of politics, diplomacy, business, finance, art and culture. The special edition features a series of articles about Oman including one by Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi.

The event was held under the patronage of Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs, and was attended by Belgian officials, heads of diplomatic missions, business leaders and journalists.

In his speech, Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy stressed the importance of the relationship between Oman and Belgium, praising the articles included in the magazine and the role of the media in strengthening relations between the two countries.

He highlighted its importance in promoting Oman's status on the world stage.

Oman's Ambassador to Belgium, Rua Issa Ashraf Alzadjali, said she hoped the magazine would contribute to efforts to build bridges of communication and strengthen diplomatic relations between countries of the world.

Barbara Dietrich, editor-in-chief of Diplomatic World, gave a speech in which she expressed her deep admiration for the model of peaceful coexistence in Oman. Describing it as a “country of peace,” she highlighted the Sultanate's importance in the region, its role in spreading tolerance and its efforts to promote dialogue.

The 73rd edition of the magazine also features Dr Abdullah Al Harrasi, Minister of Information; Salim Al Mahroqi, Minister of  Heritage and Tourism and Ibtisam Al Faroujiah, Underssecretary at the Ministry of  Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.

During the event, photographic images of Oman's most prominent heritage and tourist sites were displayed, as well as a collection of books by Belgian author Maria Dekeersmaeker, who has written a number of articles and books about the Sultanate.
