Foreign Minister meets Qatari Foreign Minister
Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, at the headquarters of the Qatari Foreign Ministry in Doha.
The two Ministers reviewed with satisfaction bilateral relations between Oman and Qatar in various fields. They also exchanged and coordinated views on various issues and challenges.
The two Ministers stressed their mutual keenness to continue strengthening economic cooperation and partnership and to diversify this cooperation to bring greater benefits, to strengthen opportunities for investment exchange and to build technical and scientific capabilities.
During the meeting, Sayyid Badr said the Sultanate of Oman was confident in the success of the upcoming Gulf summit to be hosted by Qatar next month,. He added that Oman hoped to continue contributing diligently on Gulf issues during the Qatari presidency of the next session of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The Ministers discussed the repercussions of the brutal Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, focussing on the efforts made regionally and internationally to contain the crisis and address its humanitarian, security and political impacts.
Sayyid Badr praised Qatar's pivotal role in achieving the current humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip in order to allow the exchange of prisoners and detainees and the entry of relief convoys into the Strip.
Oman's Foreign Minister said he also appreciated the efforts of the Arab Republic of Egypt in providing the facilities and coordination to make the humanitarian truce a success. He hoped that this success will lead to an extension of the truce, a permanent ceasefire and a real commitment to resume efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace, addressing all the causes of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
The two Ministers renewed their countries' support for the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in implementation of the rules of international law and in accordance with the relevant resolutions of international bodies.
The meeting was attended by Sayyid Ammar Abdullah Sultan Albusaidi, Oman's Ambassador Qatar.
