Korea: Embassy holds reception for National Day
The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the Republic of South Korea held a reception marking the 53rd National Day.
In his speech, Zakariya Hamed Hilal Alsaadi, Oman's Ambassador to Korea, praised the friendly relations between the Sultanate and Korea. He added that these relations are based on respect, understanding, cooperation and common goals.
The Ambassador also spoke about Oman’s plans for net zero carbon neutrality and for renewable energy such as green hydrogen.
The Korean guest of honour Kim O-jin, Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, delivered a speech in which he praised the depth of the existing bilateral relations and the “Oman 2040” vision.
He said that Korea supports Omani national projects that aim to diversify industries and transform Oman into an advanced economy. He added that technology and expertise of Korean companies can help contribute to achieving the “Oman 2040” vision. He also spoke about the memorandum of understanding signed in 2018 regarding cooperation in the field of smart cities in the Duqm Special Economic Zone.
The ceremony was attended by Jung Chun-soo, Speaker and Member of the Korean Parliament and Chair of the Korean-Omani Parliamentary Friendship Committee; government officials and mayors of regions in Seoul, Ambassadors of Arab and other countries to Korea, business executives, academics, media professionals, Oman’s Korean friends, members of the Arab community, and students.
