Oman-Jordan Committee meets
A meeting of the Omani-Jordanian Joint Committee was held in the Jordanian capital, Amman today.
The meeting saw the signing of several memoranda of understanding and executive programmes in the fields of industrial cities, youth, the environment, consumer protection and educational cooperation.
Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, chaired for the Sultanate while Ayman Al Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister chaired for the Hashemite Kingdom..
During the meeting, Sayyid Badr spoke of the strength of relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and how they are developing thanks to the wise directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein.
The Minister said that relations between the two countries are being renewed in line with the spirit of the age and the requirements of the future. He said that the development of this bilateral relationship is contributing to growth and prosperity, so helping to meet the aspirations of the people of the two countries by promoting partnership and cooperation in economic, cultural, artistic and scientific fields.
Sayyid Badr spoke of the shared political vision of the two countries with regard to many regional and international issues. The meeting agreed on the importance of resolving such issues through dialogue and peaceful means, based on the rules of international law and respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and legitimate rights of states.
The session also agreed that expanding the scope of cooperation in the economic and investment fields was of great importance and that it was vital to support the role of the private sector in increasing trade between the two countries and to enhance cooperation in key areas such as industry, agriculture, environment, transport, communications, information technology, the digital economy, health, education, tourism, culture and media.
After reviewing the discussions the two ministers signed the joint minutes of this eleventh session of the Omani-Jordanian Committee .
The meeting was attended from Oman by Khalid Almuslahi, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Sheikh Faisal bin Omar Al-Marhoon, Head of the Foreign Ministry's Arab Department and Faisal bin Sultan Alhosani, Chargé d'Affaires of Oman's Embassy in Jordan. Jordan was represented at the the meeting by Ms.Dana Al-Zoubi Amin, Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply and Amjad Jamil Quhaiwi, Jordan's Ambassador to Oman. Officials from both Jordan and Oman also attended the meeting.
