Oman and Luxembourg hold talks

Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi held talks today with Jean Asselborn, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

The meeting took place at the Foreign Ministry in Muscat during Mr Asselborn's official visit to the Sultanate

The two Ministers discussed the existing friendship between the two countries and ways to develop cooperation and exchange of expertise. They went on to discuss further agreements and memoranda of understanding in the fields of economic diversification, renewable energy, avoiding double taxation, air transport, banking, finance, science and culture.

The Ministers also consulted on regional and international issues of common concern, stressing the importance of addressing issues through peaceful dialogue on the basis of justice and respect for international law.

Sayyid Badr expressed his appreciation of the constructive role played by Luxembourg in the European Union. He said that  Oman is keen to continue developing bilateral relations in all fields, underlining the importance of consultation and exchange of views on common interests and concerns.

Mr Asselborn praised the important role played by the Sultanate in the region and said Luxembourg is ready to enhance cooperation in all fields.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Khalid Almuslahi, Head of the Minister's Office; Ambassador Munther Almanthari, head of the Ministry's Europe Department and a number of officials from both sides.
