Her Highness the Honourable Lady presides over women's police graduation ceremony
Her Highness the Honourable Lady, Sayyida Ahad bint Abdullah bin Hamad Al Busaidiyah, Consort of the Sultan of Oman, presided over a celebration of the Royal Oman Police (ROP), marking the passing out of a new batch of female officers
The graduation ceremony was held at the Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences in the Wilayat of Nizwa in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah today.
Upon the arrival of Her Highness, the columns of graduating officers saluted the chief guest. The commandant of the graduates’ column then stepped forward, asking Her Highness to give the signal to start the military parade.
Passing in front of the Royal Dais, the column performed a military salute to Her Highness. Top graduates then came forward to receive awards from Her Highness.
The column of graduating officers chanted the ROP Anthem “Humaat Al Haqq” before performing the oath of allegiance, proclaiming three times: “Long Live His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander.” The female graduates then gave salute to Her Highness signalling the conclusion of the parade.
The ceremony was attended by their Highnesses women members of the Royal Family, women members of the State Council, female officials, senior ROP officers and senior women educational, health and social officials in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah.
Lieutenant-Colonel Amira bint Muhammad Al-Hadidiya, Director of the Women's Police Institute at the Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences, said: “The generous patronage of the venerable lady, the wife of His Majesty the Sultan, is a clear indication of the generous care that Omani women enjoy.”
Lt Col Al-Hadidiya indicated that the Women's Police Institute is the first step for training new women police to provide them with the knowledge and skills necessary. The Institute aims to develop the professional skills of the female officers by providing the right research and training environment and the necessary support.
