Sayyid Fahd heads Oman’s delegation at GCC – China Summit

On behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, headed the Omani side at the GCC-China Summit for Cooperation and Development, which was held in Riyadh today.

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), gave a speech at the opening of the summit. He said that the summit reflects the joint desire to reinforce GCC – Chinese cooperation. He noted that the GCC states are looking forward to cooperating with China at different levels and raising this cooperation to a higher level.

In his speech, President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China, called for the consolidation of the GCC – China economic partnership, to accomplish integration and push development forward. He expressed his country’s welcome for the GCC states’ participation in the Global Security Initiative.

“We are working to establish the Chinese-GCC Centre for Nuclear Security,” said the Chinese President, adding that steps are underway to establish an investment council with GCC countries to enhance cooperation in the areas of investment in clean energy.

President Xi affirmed his country’s keenness to launch a series of projects for cooperation with GCC states and to increase imports of crude oil and natural gas from them.

The official delegation of the Sultanate of Oman during the summit comprises Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister; Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Saidi, Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs; Dr Said bin Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy; His Highness Sayyid Faisal bin Turki Al Said, Oman’s Ambassador to  Saudi Arabia, Abdullah bin Khalfan Al Balushi, Head of the Private Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, and other officials.
