King of Jordan arrives in Oman
King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Queen Rania Al Abdullah arrived in Muscat today on an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman lasting two days.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik led the welcoming party for King Abdullah II. When his jet of touched down at the Royal Airport, His Majesty met the guest at the foot of the plane steps, welcoming him and wishing him and the accompanying delegation a pleasant stay in Oman.
Along with His Majesty the Sultan, King Abdullah II was received by His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs; Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court; General Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nomani, Minister of the Royal Office, Sayyid Hamood bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Interior Minister; Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister (Head of the Mission of Honour); Dr Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shibaniyah, Minister of Education (Escort of the Queen), Sheikh Hilal bin Marhoon Al Ma’amari, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; Amjad Quhaiwi, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Sultanate of Oman and members of the mission of honour.
His Majesty and the Jordanian Monarch then proceeded to the arrival hall, passing between two rows of a guard of honour from the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO), where Her Highness the Honourable Lady Assayida Ahd Abdullah Hamed Al Busaidi, Spouse of the Sultan of Oman welcomed the King, the Queen and the Crown Prince of Jordan.
After a short rest, the motorcade of His Majesty and his guest left the Royal Airport heading to Al Alam Palace for an official reception ceremony.
Before the arrival of the main vehicle of the motorcade at Al Alam Palace, a squadron of cavalry lined the two sides of the road heading to the gate of the palace.
Upon the arrival of the motorcade at the entrance to Al Alam Palace, the RGO band played a welcoming tune to the accompaniment of trumpets, as the motorcade entered the courtyard of Al Alam Palace.
After that, His Majesty the Sultan accompanied the King of Jordan to the Podium of Honour where the Royal Anthem of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was played, while artillery fired a 21-gun salute for the guest.
His Majesty the Sultan then shook hands with members of the official delegation accompanying the Jordanian Monarch, welcoming them and wishing them a pleasant stay.
King Abdullah II of Jordan in turn shook hands with members of the Royal Family, the Chairmen of the State Council and Shura Council, Ministers and Commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and the Royal Oman Police (ROP).
After that, His Majesty the Sultan and the guest proceeded to the majlis where they took Arabian coffee.
King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein is accompanied during his visit by an official delegation comprising: Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince of Jordan; Dr Bisher Al Khasawneh, Prime Minister; Ayman Al Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates; Jaafar Hassan, Director of the King’s Office and Amjad Al Qahaiwi, Ambassador of Jordan to Oman and various officials.
