Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, today headed the Sultanate’s delegation to the 158th session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, at the League’s General Secretariat in Cairo, Egypt.

Members of the Council stressed the importance of Arab solidarity, cooperation and joint work to achieve the hopes and aspirations of the peoples of Arab countries.

In his speech, Sayyid Badr referred to the central Arab issue, Palestine. He stressed the importance of establishing a just solution for the Palestinian people by recognising the independent State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital, the 1967 borders and its accession to full membership of the United Nations.

The Minister also spoke of Oman’s aspiration for the return of Arab solidarity with the restoration of the Syrian Arab Republic to its seat in the League, based on the belief in the authentic Arab fundamentals that all countries are working to consolidate and strengthen ties in a bid to achieve ambitions and desired goals.

The delegation accompanying the Foreign Minister included Abdullah Alrahbi, Oman’s Ambassador to Egypt and its permanent representative to the League of Arab States; Sheikh Faisal Almarhoon, Head of the Department of the Arab League of Arab States and a number of Foreign Ministry officials.
