Foreign Minister welcomes appointment of new UN Special Envoy for Yemen
Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister has welcomed the appointment by the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, of the Swedish Ambassador to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, as the UN Special Envoy to Yemen in succession to Martin Griffiths.
Sayyid Badr expressed the Sultanate’s desire to work with Hans Grundberg on such an important dossier and the Sultanate’s determination to continue with the efforts aimed at finding a solution to the crisis in Yemen at the earliest opportunity.
The Foreign Minister valued the experience of Hans Grundberg and his knowledge of the affairs of Yemen and the region.
Sayyd Badr said he hoped that the professional experience of the new UN Special Envoy to Yemen will contribute to the efforts to secure a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire involving all parties and to the efforts to ease the flow of humanitarian aid. He also hoped the involvement of the Special Envoy will contribute to a political process that will achieve the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security, stability, national unity and reconstruction.
