Oman denounces Israeli forces' occupation of new Syrian territories

10 December 2024

The Sultanate of Oman condemns and denounces the further occupation of additional Syrian territory by the Israeli military in the Syrian buffer border zone and their shameless violation of the Disengagement Agreement of 1974, while continuing their bombardment of sites in the capital Damascus and other areas.

This is a blatant violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions and a dangerous impediment to efforts to achieve peace and stability in Syria.

The Sultanate of Oman notes that this violation adds further to Israel's extensive record of criminality in the region. It reflects an aggressive character and a policy that seeks to undermine international law at every opportunity.

The Sultanate of Oman once again calls on the United Nations Security Council to shoulder its responsibility to stop Israeli violations and malpractices under international law, and restates its firm position in support of the Syrian and Palestinian peoples, and their legitimate right to reclaim their occupied territories and establish full sovereignty.
