Foreign Minister receives UK Minister for the Middle East and North Africa
His Excellency Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister received this afternoon James Cleverly MP, the United Kingdom's Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, who is currently visiting the Sultanate.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of existing areas of cooperation within the framework of the comprehensive agreement based on solid friendship and bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Both sides touched upon a number of joint economic and investment programmes and projects, in addition to cooperation in the field of public health and overcoming the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The two sides expressed their keen interest in reaching a Free Trade agreement between the United Kingdom and the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
At the regional and international levels, the two sides discussed efforts to end the war in Yemen, support humanitarian relief, the situation in Afghanistan and the Iranian nuclear file. The Ministers stressed the two countries' keenness to support all efforts aimed at deepening and strengthening the pillars of security, stability and peace.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Ambassador Khalid Almuslahi, Chief of the Minister's Office Department, Bill Murray Ambassador-designate of the United Kingdom to the Sultanate of Oman, along with a number of officials from both sides.
