Oman and Nepal sign tourism agreement
Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, and Dr Arzu Rana Deuba, Nepal’s Foreign Minister, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on tourism cooperation.
The MoU, signed in Muscat, reflects a shared desire to strengthen and develop cooperation in this area.
Under the agreement, both countries will develop bilateral cooperation in various tourism related fields. These include: encouraging tourism investments; establishing hotels; developing tourism facilities; and enhancing expertise in hotel management.
The MoU aims to stimulate reciprocal tourism between the two friendly countries in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. This facilitates the sharing of statistics, promotional tourism materials and technical knowledge and expertise in training, research and other tourism information.
It seeks to improve direct communication between travel agencies and tourism companies and encourages participation in international exhibitions organised by each country. It also provides the necessary facilitation for delegations from both countries to attend international seminars, conferences and tourism workshops.
The MoU confirms the enhancement of cooperation within the framework of UN Tourism and other international tourism organisations. It also seeks to develop cooperation through joint programmes and the exchange of information and documents related to vocational training for tourism sector workers.
