Oman's Foreign Ministry has expressed the Sultanate's support for the outcome of a summit of the countries neighbouring Sudan, held yesterday in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

The summit called on the parties in the conflict in the Republic of Sudan to abide by a ceasefire and end the fighting in order to prevent bloodshed and to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid.

The summit also declared full respect for Sudan's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity and for the principle of non-interference in its internal affairs.

The Ministry said Oman appreciated the work led by President Abdel Fattah el Sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt to hold the summit to support efforts to reach a comprehensive and sustainable peaceful solution that meets the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people for security and stability and to preserve their capabilities and the gains they have made.
