Oman at Governmental Forum to Combat Human Trafficking
The Sultanate of Oman participated in the sixth session of the Governmental Forum to Combat Human Trafficking in the Middle East 2025, held in Kuwait.
The Omani delegation was headed by Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs and Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking.
The Forum, inaugurated by Kuwaiti Justice Minister, Nasser bin Yousef Al Sumeit, discussed ways to strengthen regional cooperation and exchange expertise among member states to combat human trafficking.
The discussions aimed to enhance efforts in protection, prevention and prosecution of offenders in accordance with international standards, in cooperation with international organisations and institutions.
Sheikh Khalifa delivered a speech to the Forum in which he outlined the Oman’s efforts to combat human trafficking. These include awareness campaigns, the enactment of legislation, the organisation of seminars and workshops, and the provision of protection and assistance to victims and those affected.
